PHORIDAE Mating Guard Pair WINGLESS Female BALTIC AMBER 1894

Baltic amber stone with fossil insects - Phoridae, Limulomya tyche, mating guard pair or just after. Scuttle flies winged males are common in amber but wingless females are very rare and extremely rare pair of scuttle flies in same piece.

It weighs 0.2 grams. Measurements of stone 12x5x4mm, length of male body and head ~ 2.5mm, female ~ 1.4mm.
